Convincing technology:
new customers for the UniCard

Villingen-Schwenningen. As market leader, InterCard AG Informationssysteme continues to benefit disproportionately from the continued high demand for multifunctional card systems in the university sector. Seven additional institutes of further education have decided to introduce the UniCard: Stuttgart-Hohenheim University, the University for Applied Science in Hamburg, the technical universities in Hannover, Ludwigsburg and Neu-Ulm, the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen and the teachers' training college in Schwäbisch Gmünd will all start to benefit from the advantages of InterCard's technology from the first half of 2008. Together with the extension of the installation at Munich Technical University the new orders include some 44,000 students, teaching and administrative staff.

Each of the universities concerned plans to introduce a comprehensive system which in most cases covers the following functions: personalized student and staff identity card including photo; identity card for public transport; library card; card with payment chip for the student canteen, printing and photocopying services; access control with time recording for buildings, rooms amd car parks; participation in examinations and re-registration (students only).

With the introduction of the UniCard the students and staff in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Schwäbisch-Gmünd and Neu-Ulm will not only gain access to the advantages linked to the card itself; they will also benefit from the added value which arises within the university network in their region. The significance of winning the contract in Hamburg extends far beyond the mere turnover generated, since the university landscape in Hamburg offers considerable potential for future business. InterCard won the tender in Friedrichshafen above all because of its integrated offer for access and time registration. Through the acquisition of the specialist Intrakey, InterCard is in a position to offer tailor-made solutions from a single source.
