InterCard: New technologies - new customers
Villingen-Schwenningen. A number of institutes of education including the technical universities of Oldenburg, Ostfriesland and Wilhelmshaven (OOW), as well as the College of Music in Cologne, have decided to introduce the UniCard by InterCard. In Wilhelmshaven the OOW has started introduce the wide-ranging installation for 5,000 students (including access, photocopying charges, paying in the students' canteen and vending machines); the other locations will follow in turn. The installation in Cologne (3,000 students) will also included library functions. Covering printing and library facilities, the new InterCard products IC-Print and IC-Bibliothek have been greeted by wide acceptance and demand. The University of Frankfurt am Main decided on the comprehensive solution for efficient printing and photocopying, while the Technical University of Cologne and the University of Kiel, as well as the Medical School in Cologne, will be using the IC-Bibliothek library system. A number of customers have decided to take advantage of the system of upgrades in order to improve their existing InterCard system: Stuttgart University and the technical universities in Cologne and Bochum now also charge for photocopies using the UniCard from Inter Card. Increased international sales initiatives have resulted in further orders in Switzerland. During the winter semester the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) Winterthur will be integrating its outposts in Wädenswil, Dübendorf and Zurich into the existing multifunctional card system; in autumn the faculties of Music and Design and Art at the University of Lucerne (HSLU) will be integrated into the HSLU card. The changeover to the latest chip card technology is progressing according to plan. The new projects at the HAW Hamburg and the University of Bayreuth are already in operation using the high standards of the innovative chip cards. In addition to improved security the selected solution also offers an increased level of flexibility. The open structures of this technology permit nationwide interlinking and thus a whole range of new possible applications. |
